Karshner Mound, Archaeological burial mound in Hocking County, United States.
The Karshner Mound measures 100 feet in diameter and reaches 28 feet in height, standing prominently in the center of a farm field.
The National Register of Historic Places added this archaeological site to its listings on July 15, 1974, recognizing its significance as a Native American burial structure.
This burial mound represents the practices of the Adena people, who constructed such earthen structures between 1000 BC and 400 AD in the Ohio region.
Located at coordinates 39.4515° N and 82.72° W, visitors can find the mound on the second terrace above Salt Creek near Laurelville, Ohio.
The mound remains in its original condition as it has never undergone cultivation, with natural vegetation protecting it from erosion over centuries.
