Martin Hill, Mountain summit in Bedford County, Pennsylvania
Martin Hill is a mountain summit in Pennsylvania that sits between Tussey Mountain to the east and Evitts Mountain to the west. The peak rises above the surrounding woodlands and marks a notable point along the ridge system in this part of the state.
A forest fire lookout tower once stood on the summit until it was removed in 2003 and served as a monitoring point for the surrounding woodlands. After its demolition, the peak returned to its natural state.
The summit marks the highest point along Pennsylvania's Mid State Trail, drawing hikers who traverse this extensive footpath through the state.
Several trails wind through the Martin Hill Wild Area within Buchanan State Forest and lead up to the summit for visitors of different experience levels. The area offers multiple route options depending on your hiking ability and time available.
Unlike many other peaks across Pennsylvania, this summit has no communication towers or broadcasting equipment on its crown. This absence of technical structures preserves its natural appearance and gives hikers an unobstructed view from the top.
