Mild Thing, Steel roller coaster in Shakopee, Minnesota, US
Mild Thing is a steel roller coaster at Valleyfair amusement park featuring a chain lift hill and gentle bunny hills arranged in an oval layout. The ride was designed specifically for younger visitors to experience their first roller coaster without intense drops or speed.
The ride opened in 1976 as Mine Train and went through several name changes, including Kiddie Coaster, before becoming Mild Thing in 1996. This final renaming coincided with the debut of another major coaster at the park that year.
The roller coaster earned its name Mild Thing as a word play referencing the opening of Wild Thing hypercoaster at Valleyfair in the same year.
The ride is easy to locate within the park and clearly marked with signage from the main areas. Families should note that this coaster is specifically suited for children experiencing their first roller coaster ride.
The coaster closed in 2010 and was later replaced by a Snoopy-themed children's attraction built in the same location. This replacement marked a shift to a different style of family entertainment at the park.
