Samuel Ferris House, Colonial house in Greenwich, United States.
Samuel Ferris House is a wooden structure located at 1 Cary Road, featuring a gabled roof, central chimney, and a symmetrical facade with five bays of sash windows. The building displays typical characteristics of 18th-century Cape Cod design.
Built around 1760 and expanded in 1800, it began as a farmhouse on a large property owned by the Ferris family. In the 1920s the structure was moved to make room for the realignment of Post Road.
Inside, you can see original vertical wall planks and a fireplace with feathered panels that show how colonists built and decorated their homes.
The house sits in a residential neighborhood and is visible from the street but best explored on foot. As a privately maintained property, visitors should be respectful of the residents' privacy.
This is one of the few surviving Colonial Cape Cod structures that remains along the historic Boston Post Road in the area. Its relocation in response to road changes shows how communities once adapted buildings to make room for new transportation routes.
