The Balsams Grand Resort Hotel contains 11,000 acres of land with 95 kilometers of cross-country ski trails and multiple golf courses.
Built in 1875 as the Dix House, the property expanded under Henry S. Hale's ownership in 1895 and doubled its capacity to 400 guests by 1918.
The Ballot Room serves as the first polling location in presidential elections, where Dixville Notch residents cast their votes at midnight.
The resort remains closed since 2011 while new owners pursue a $170 million renovation plan to expand facilities and modernize accommodations.
The Donald Ross designed Panorama golf course features 18 championship holes integrated into the natural mountain landscape.
