The Upper Roxborough Historic District spans 711 acres containing 108 contributing buildings, 23 sites, and 18 structures from different architectural periods.
The district earned its place on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001, recognizing its collection of Colonial and Greek Revival architecture.
The area includes small-scale farm houses, industrial workers' residences, estate houses, mill owners' dwellings, and the Shawmont Railroad Station from 1834.
Visitors can explore multiple historical structures including the Miquon Station, designed by Frank Furness in 1910, and the remains of the Riverside Paper Mills.
The district contains the grounds of the Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education, featuring the 1856 'Fairview' building among its historical structures.
