Wabash Memorial Bridge, Steel cantilever bridge across Wabash River between Posey County, Indiana and White County, Illinois.
The Wabash Memorial Bridge is a steel cantilever structure that spans across the Wabash River, connecting Indiana State Road 62 on one side with Illinois Route 141 on the other. The crossing accommodates two-lane traffic and serves as a key link between Posey County, Indiana and White County, Illinois.
This bridge was completed in 1956 to provide a direct crossing of the Wabash River between the two states. It operated as a toll facility until 2014, when toll collection was discontinued.
The structure represents the southernmost crossing point between Illinois and Indiana, with the next bridge located 25 miles north near Griffin on Interstate 64.
The bridge accommodates everyday traffic with two lanes designed for safe passage across the river. Access is available year-round and there are no special requirements for crossing.
This bridge operated with an electronic toll collection system called Wabash Pass from 2011 to 2014, requiring vehicles to carry transponders for legal crossing.
