Monroe Courts Historic District, Historic residential district in Arlington County, United States.

Monroe Courts Historic District is a residential area containing 39 two-story rowhouses divided into four separate groups across approximately 2.4 acres in northern Arlington. The buildings display Colonial Revival design elements with clear architectural consistency throughout the property.

The district was built in 1938 to house middle-class commuters in a fast-growing suburb near Washington, D.C. The project emerged during a period of rapid suburban expansion before World War II transformed the region.

The buildings reflect mid-20th century suburban living patterns and how communities were organized around working families. The arrangement of four separate groups shows how the layout encouraged neighborhood bonds among residents with similar backgrounds.

The district is bounded by 10th Street North, North Monroe Street, Washington Boulevard, and North Nelson Street. Street parking is limited in the area, so arriving early or looking for alternative spots nearby is a good idea.

Each of the four building groups features distinct brickwork patterns and rooflines that reflect 1930s design standards. These architectural details reveal the craftsmanship embedded in mass housing production during this era.
