The memorial features a monumental seated figure of Harvey S. Firestone accompanied by six allegorical relief panels depicting industrial themes.
Commissioned in 1938 after Firestone's death, sculptors James Earle Fraser and Donald De Lue completed this memorial for its dedication in 1950.
The memorial panels represent fundamental industrial concepts through Contemplation, Invention, Leadership, and Achievement, reflecting American manufacturing values.
Visitors can examine the memorial at 10 East Firestone Boulevard in Akron, with public access available during regular business hours.
The initial unveiling used a painted plaster version of the statue, which was later replaced with the final bronze sculpture without public announcement.
