Cherokee Plantation, Historic plantation house in Fort Payne, Alabama, United States.
Cherokee Plantation features white wooden columns and Greek Revival architecture elements spread across a 16-acre property near the Appalachian foothills.
Built in 1790 as a two-story log cabin by Andrew Ross, the house witnessed the Trail of Tears passage in 1838 right in front of its grounds.
The property maintains connections to Cherokee heritage through its first owner Andrew Ross, who served as a judge on the Cherokee Supreme Court.
The plantation stands at 100 Cherokee Drive Northeast, marked by the National Register of Historic Places and Alabama Register of Landmarks designation plaques.
Three separate log cabins, constructed between 1790 and 1834, were connected to form the main structure before its transformation into a Greek Revival residence.
