Twisted Timbers, Steel hybrid roller coaster at Kings Dominion, United States
Twisted Timbers is a hybrid roller coaster at Kings Dominion featuring a chain lift hill that climbs 111 feet (34 m), followed by a steep drop of 109 feet (33 m) reaching a top speed of 54 miles per hour (87 km/h). The track spans just over a mile and incorporates inversions and airtime moments throughout the circuit.
The ride began as Hurler, a wooden coaster that opened in 1994 at the park. Rocky Mountain Construction later transformed it into a hybrid coaster with a completely redesigned track that reopened in 2018.
The ride tells visitors the story of Hanover Hill Orchard, an orchard that was supposedly destroyed by unexplained forces in 1950. This fictional narrative adds a thematic layer to the experience for those who follow the park's storytelling.
Riders must be at least 48 inches (122 cm) tall to experience the ride. The park provides storage compartments for personal items and phones that cannot be taken aboard.
The ride blends steel and wooden elements using a hybrid construction method that creates twenty airtime moments and three inversions in a single circuit. This combination of materials produces a sensation different from traditional all-wooden or all-steel coasters.
