Villa Borghese gardens, Landscape garden in Rome, Italy

The Villa Borghese gardens spread across 80 hectares with multiple entrances, containing various monuments, statues, museums, and a human-made lake with an island.

Cardinal Scipione Borghese transformed this former vineyard into gardens in 1605, following designs by architect Flaminio Ponzio for the Villa Borghese Pinciana.

The gardens house several museums, including the Galleria Borghese with works by Bernini and Caravaggio, and the National Etruscan Museum in Villa Giulia.

Visitors can rent boats for lake rowing, bicycles for garden exploration, and need advance reservations to enter the museums within the park grounds.

The garden features a 19th-century water clock that tells time through an innovative system of basins and siphons, demonstrating engineering precision.
