Palacete Camelier

Palacete Camelier is a three-story mansion in Cidade Velha, Belém's old district, with its rear section oriented toward Guajará Bay. The building displays features from multiple periods, reflecting its transformation from religious use to residential and commercial purposes.

The structure began as a Franciscan convent in the early 1700s and later served as a naval arsenal before becoming a private residence. It passed into the hands of Charles Gustav Emil Müller and subsequently the Camelier family during the rubber era.

The name Camelier reflects the family who occupied this space and shaped local life through their ventures. Walking through its rooms, you can sense how prosperous merchants lived and conducted business in old Belém.

The mansion is located on Dr. Assis Street in Cidade Velha, conveniently positioned near the Atrium Hotel Quinta De Pedras for navigation. Note that the building shows signs of age and deterioration, so visitors should exercise caution when exploring its interior.
