Holy Saviour's Cathedral
Holy Saviour's Cathedral, Anglican cathedral in Xicheng District, Beijing, China.
The cathedral exhibits a cruciform layout with a north-south basilica axis, incorporating grey bricks and traditional Chinese roof shingles into its design.
Construction of the cathedral concluded in 1907, establishing it as the principal religious center for the Diocese of North China until Anglican services ended in 1949.
The cathedral merges European architectural elements with Chinese design features, reflecting the intersection of Western and Eastern religious traditions in Beijing.
The building now functions as a branch of Beijing's Mofan Bookstore following extensive restoration work completed by the Saiweng Information and Consulting Center in 1990.
In 2003, Beijing authorities designated the structure as a Cultural Protection Site, preserving its status as the oldest Anglican church in Northern China.
