Rita, Steel roller coaster in Alton Towers, England
Rita propels riders from 0 to 98 kilometers per hour in 2.5 seconds through a 640-meter track with high-speed curves and airtime hills.
The attraction opened on April 1, 2005, as Rita: Queen of Speed, representing an £8 million investment in the Alton Towers theme park development.
The ride transformed from a drag racing theme to become part of the Dark Forest section in 2010, incorporating supernatural elements into its presentation.
The roller coaster accommodates 1,150 passengers per hour with trains configured in five cars, each holding four riders in two rows.
The hydraulic launch system eliminates traditional lift hills, creating immediate forward acceleration that reaches maximum speed within seconds.
