Rajagiri Fort, Ancient fortification in Viluppuram district, India.
The granite and saffron stone fort stands on a hilltop with extensive walls spanning 13 kilometers, enclosing an area of 11 square kilometers.
The fort traces its origins to 1200 AD during the Chola dynasty, later experiencing control shifts between the Vijayanagara Empire and various sultanates.
The fort complex contains multiple religious structures including the Venu Gopalaswami Temple, Ranganath Temple, and two historical mosques from the 18th century.
Visitors can reach the fort through a one-kilometer path from Gingee Market, with the site featuring several preserved structures and water reservoirs.
The fort includes specialized structures such as an elephant tank, a magazine, and stone bath tubs with continuous water supply systems.
