水戸テレビ・ラジオ放送所, Broadcasting facility in Mito, Japan
The Mito Television and Radio Broadcasting Station was a transmission center for television and radio signals serving Ibaraki Prefecture. The facility used horizontal polarization for digital broadcasts and operated separate AM radio facilities located in the Shimokuniimachi district.
The facility began operations in February 2013 and concluded service in June 2016. This period represented a transition in the evolution of regional broadcast infrastructure.
The station delivered local programming and news content to 338,604 households in the Mito region, establishing communication networks throughout Ibaraki Prefecture.
The station was located in Morishinkoen Park in Mito City and transmitted digital television signals alongside separate radio operations. The facility is no longer operational, so visitors should be aware that active transmission does not occur.
The analog television transmitter on Mount Senba used vertical polarization to prevent interference with main channel broadcasts. This technical approach helped maintain signal quality for viewers across the region.
