Château de Minowa, Mountain fortress in Takasaki, Japan
Minowa Castle spans across forty-seven hectares on a 30-meter hill, featuring three circular enclosures with stone walls and deep moats protecting access routes.
The Nagano clan constructed Minowa Castle in 1512, establishing it as their base until Takeda Shingen's forces captured the fortress during the 1566 siege.
The October Minowa Castle Festival includes warriors wearing traditional armor who march through streets while performing reenactments of medieval battles.
Visitors can reach the castle grounds by taking a bus to the nearby stop, with free parking available for 78 vehicles and 6 large buses.
The 2016 restoration project returned the Kakubadashi West Tiger's Mouth Gate to its original form, showcasing medieval Japanese architectural techniques.
