長崎県立長崎式見高等学校, Highschool in Japan
Nagasaki Shikimi High School was a public school in Nagasaki featuring classrooms, a gymnasium, martial arts training areas, and athletic grounds. The building had views of nearby mountains and underwent multiple renovations and reconstructions throughout its operation.
The school began in 1951 as a branch of Nagasaki West High School offering evening general studies courses. It became an independent school in 1984 and closed in 2008, after which students transferred to Nagasaki North High School.
The school name reflected the local area, and its simple uniform and flag embodied the spirit of student life. The school song contained references to nearby mountains and locations, allowing students to feel connected to their surroundings during daily life.
The site is located on the outskirts of Nagasaki and is best reached by bus or car. The former school can be explored on foot, with remnants such as gate ruins and fence sections still visible.
The school song created in 1984 included the names of local mountains and places, allowing students to internalize their surroundings through daily singing. Visitors can still find remnants of old uniforms and textbooks scattered in the abandoned buildings, making the ruin an appealing spot for history enthusiasts.
