大同生命札幌ビル, Commercial building in central Sapporo, Japan.
Daido Life Sapporo Building is a commercial office tower in central Sapporo, Japan, with 14 floors above ground and 2 basement levels. The lower floors are home to the Miredo shopping center with three retail floors, while the upper floors are used as office space.
Construction started in April 2018 and the building was completed in March 2020. The Miredo shopping center then opened in June 2020, bringing retail activity to the lower floors.
The second floor holds the Icoi Lounge, a space with trees and plants where visitors can sit and rest. It shows how Japanese interior design often brings natural elements into modern office buildings.
The building is about one minute on foot from Sapporo subway station and has direct access through the Chi-Ka-Ho underground walkway. JR Sapporo station is also within a short walk, making it easy to reach from different parts of the city.
The building has a seismic control system built into its structure to keep it stable during earthquakes. This kind of system is common in newer Japanese buildings but rarely visible to visitors, as it works entirely within the walls and frame.
