IBM Hakozaki Facility, Corporate skyscraper in Nihonbashi Hakozaki, Japan.
The IBM Hakozaki Facility is a modern skyscraper with 25 floors above ground extending to 108 meters in height, constructed with glass and steel architecture. The building contained practical facilities including a post office, convenience store, and childcare center to support daily operations.
The facility opened in 1989 on the former site of Mitsui Warehouse headquarters, designed by Takenaka Corporation as part of urban redevelopment efforts. In January 2024, IBM Japan relocated its headquarters to Toranomon Hills, bringing a significant era at this location to a close.
The building represents a meeting point between Japanese corporate traditions and IBM's global technology practices. Visitors can experience how the modern structure embodied this fusion of two distinct business cultures.
The building sits within a short walk from Suitengumae Station, making it straightforward to reach by public transport. On-site services like a convenience store and post office were available, though most spaces are dedicated to office use.
The building was originally known as Mitsui Warehouse Hakozaki Building, carrying the name of one of Japan's oldest trading companies for many years. This name change reflects the shifting ownership and the site's importance within Tokyo's business landscape.
