Fudō Ōhashi Bridge, Rigid-frame bridge in Naganohara, Japan.
The Fudō Ōhashi Bridge is a rigid-frame structure spanning 590 meters across Lake Yamba-Agatsuma, connecting sections of Gunma Prefectural Road Route 375 in Naganohara. It accommodates both vehicular and pedestrian traffic while offering multiple viewpoints across the surrounding landscape.
Construction began in March 2004 under the name Lake No. 2 Bridge before it was renamed to its current designation in 2010. The project was undertaken to establish an important transportation link in Gunma's mountainous region.
The bridge takes its name from the nearby Fudo Falls, linking a natural landmark with the contemporary infrastructure of the area.
Crossing is free and accessible at any time, with adequate space provided for pedestrians alongside vehicle traffic. The best views of the lake and surrounding mountains can be enjoyed from several designated viewpoints along the structure.
The structure demonstrates an unusual engineering solution with a girder height of only 6 meters while spanning 155 meters, making it a distinctive design among similar bridges in Japan. This combination of minimal height and maximum span required innovative technical approaches.
