Kiz Kulesi, Rize, Medieval castle on small islet near Pazar, Turkey.

The rectangular stone fortress stands on a rocky outcrop with walls measuring 7 meters on each side and 1.5 meters in thickness.

The castle emerged during the Trebizond Empire between the 13th and 14th centuries, potentially constructed by Genoese builders for their nobility.

Local Laz people connect the castle to Queen Tamar of Georgia, who established the Empire of Trebizond following her expedition to Chaldia in 1204.

The structure sits 1 kilometer west of Pazar center, with the main entrance positioned on the western wall facing the Black Sea coastline.

The castle underwent careful restoration work in 2013 to maintain its original architectural features while preserving the medieval stone masonry techniques.
