Hopa District, Administrative district in Artvin Province, Turkey.
Hopa is an administrative district in Artvin Province that stretches along the eastern Black Sea coast covering roughly 130 square kilometers. Mountains descend steeply toward the water while dense forests cover much of the terrain throughout the region.
The district took its current form after 2017 when a portion of its territory was separated to establish the new Kemalpaşa District. This administrative reorganization significantly changed the geographic boundaries and jurisdiction of the area.
The district population maintains connections with Georgian traditions through regular festivals, cuisine, and cross-border exchanges due to its geographic position.
The nearest international airport is located in Batumi, Georgia, with shuttle services connecting to the town center from there. Travel is best during warmer months when mountain roads are safely passable for visitors.
The area functions as an important trade channel between Turkey and Georgia, with a port that moves maritime goods along the Black Sea route. This position makes it a hub for commerce and exchange across the region.
