Greene Mansion, Historic house in Amsterdam, United States
The Greene Mansion at 92 Market Street features a two-story brick construction with a steep slate roof and decorative wooden balconies.
Built in 1881 for Henry Eckford Greene, son of William Kimball Greene who established the first carpet factory in Amsterdam through Greene Knitting Mills.
The Greene family legacy extends through multiple residences along Market Street, marking their influence on Amsterdam's industrial development during the 19th century.
The mansion occupies 0.3 acres of land and maintains its original architectural elements including an oriel window and covered porches.
Henry Eckford Greene passed away two months after the mansion's completion, never having lived in the residence he commissioned.
