Undertow

Undertow is a steel roller coaster at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk featuring multiple inversions and high-speed turns throughout its course. The ride drops vertically approximately 70 feet and navigates different elevation changes along its track.

The coaster opened in 2010, marking a major refresh of the amusement grounds. The Boardwalk itself has been operating since 1907 and continues to add new attractions to stay current.

The design references Santa Cruz's coastal culture, incorporating maritime visual elements that celebrate the town's deep connection to the ocean.

The ride maintains height requirements for passenger safety, so check these before waiting in line. Individual ride tickets or day passes are available depending on how long you plan to stay at the Boardwalk.

The ride uses a special track with synchronized rotations that mimic the movement of ocean currents beneath the surface. This spiraling design creates a sensation of wavelike and swirling motions as you experience the twists.
