Santa Cruz Breakwater Light, Maritime lighthouse in Santa Cruz Harbor, California.
The cylindrical concrete tower features a white exterior with a green band and rises 41.5 feet above the western breakwater entrance.
The current structure replaced a simple box light in 2001, following substantial community fundraising efforts and contributions from local businessman Charles Walton.
The lighthouse bears the name of Derek Walton, a merchant marine who lost his life at sea during World War II, honoring maritime service members.
Visitors can walk along the breakwater path from Atlantic Avenue to reach the lighthouse, keeping watch for occasional large waves crossing the jetty.
The structure contains forty-two spiral steps within its core and emits a green light every four seconds, visible up to eight nautical miles.
