Jane's Carousel, Historic carousel in DUMBO, Brooklyn, United States
The Philadelphia Toboggan Company carousel features 48 carved wooden horses and two chariots, housed in a contemporary glass pavilion near the East River.
Initially installed at Idora Park in Youngstown in 1922, Jane and David Walentas purchased the carousel at auction in 1984 for restoration.
The carousel represents early 20th-century American craftsmanship through its detailed wood carvings by artisans John Zalar and Frank Carretta.
The carousel operates daily at Brooklyn Bridge Park, with visitors accessing it via subway lines A/C, 2/3, or bus routes B25, B61, B63.
The glass enclosure designed by Jean Nouvel allows year-round operation while providing views of Manhattan skyline and Brooklyn Bridge.
