Queensbridge Park, Urban park in Long Island City, New York, US
Queensbridge Park is an urban park along the East River in Long Island City that provides open space and various recreational facilities. The park features sports fields, basketball courts, a waterfront walkway, and areas for walking and play.
The park was created in 1939 alongside the construction of Queensbridge Houses and originally was managed by the New York City Housing Authority. It was later transferred to the Parks and Recreation Department.
The park serves as a gathering space where neighbors meet and spend time together throughout the year. Local events and performances regularly draw people here, making it an important part of community life.
The park is easily reached by several subway lines and bus routes, with walking paths and play areas for various activities. The waterfront walkway offers good conditions for pedestrians and visitors of all ages.
The park received a protective seawall against the East River in 2014 along with a wide waterfront promenade. This infrastructure protects the area from flooding while also creating a pleasant place for walking.
