Steel Curtain, Steel roller coaster at Kennywood amusement park, Pennsylvania, United States.
Steel Curtain is a steel roller coaster at Kennywood amusement park in Pennsylvania. The track runs through nine inversions and reaches speeds of 76 miles per hour (122 kilometers per hour) at a maximum height of 220 feet (67 meters).
The installation opened in July 2019 and received the Golden Ticket Award for best new roller coaster that same year. It set several records when it began operating and expanded the offerings of the park founded in the 19th century.
The ride takes its name from the defensive line of the Pittsburgh Steelers during the 1970s. Yellow and black colors reference the team that won four championships in that era.
Visitors must be at least 52 inches (132 centimeters) tall and weigh under 300 pounds (136 kilograms). The ride operates seasonally and stands in the End Zone themed area of the park.
The installation features the most inversions in North America and ranks as Pennsylvania's tallest roller coaster. One of the inversions sits at 197 feet (60 meters) and is positioned higher than most similar elements elsewhere.
