Bukhara specialized nursery "Jayron", Wildlife conservation center in Bukhara District, Uzbekistan
Jayron is a wildlife reserve in Bukhara District designed to protect endangered desert animals across a large protected area. The reserve offers open space where animals roam in conditions that resemble their natural surroundings.
The reserve was established in the 1970s to protect endangered species from Central Asian steppes. The project grew to become an important regional conservation effort with expanding animal populations over the decades.
The site protects rare animals like Przewalski's horses, Bukhara deer, and Turkmen kulans that roam freely in their natural habitat. These species hold importance for local ecosystems and represent efforts to maintain the region's wildlife diversity.
The reserve is large and spread across open terrain, so plan for adequate time and bring appropriate gear for wildlife observation. Early morning or late afternoon offers the best chance to see animals moving about in the landscape.
The area shelters more than 200 plant species and numerous bird species that live alongside the large mammals across the desert landscape. This range of plant and animal life makes the reserve a refuge for biodiversity that extends well beyond its famous animals.
