Sharif Hussein bin Ali Mosque, Aqaba

The mosque features white walls, a central dome, high minarets, and geometric gardens surrounded by palm trees on Al-Shata Street near the waterfront.

Built in 1979, the mosque honors Sharif Hussein bin Ali, who served as Emir of Mecca from 1908 to 1917 and initiated the Arab Revolt against Ottoman rule.

The religious complex functions as an educational center with dedicated spaces for teaching Quranic studies and Islamic sciences to men and women.

Visitors must follow dress codes, with women required to cover their bodies and heads using garments available for rent at the entrance.

The structure contains Jordan's largest mosque dome, decorated with three-dimensional patterns in Moroccan Kufic script using reinforced white concrete panels.
