The Domes of Casa Grande, Industrial structures in Pinal County, United States.
The Domes of Casa Grande were a group of futuristic concrete structures in Pinal County's desert landscape. The complex featured an unusual flying saucer-like dome connected to three spherical chambers arranged in sequence.
The structures were built in 1982 for a technology company intending to use them as a computer manufacturing center. The project was abandoned before completion, and the buildings deteriorated for decades until their demolition in 2023.
The domes gained attention from photographers and urban explorers until their demolition in January 2023, following years of deterioration.
The site was located south of the Thornton exit off Interstate 8, roughly one mile from the highway on private property. Access was challenging due to the deteriorated state of the grounds and restricted entry to the abandoned industrial area.
The mix of concrete and polyurethane foam construction proved poorly suited to intense desert heat, causing rapid structural failure. The otherworldly appearance made the abandoned complex a sought-after location for photographers and explorers over the decades.
