Parcours de la Chouette

Parcours de la Chouette is a marked hiking trail through central Dijon guided by bronze arrows featuring an owl symbol embedded in pavingstones. The route connects 22 different locations throughout the old town area.

The route passes medieval structures, including the Palace of the Dukes of Burgundy, which served as the seat of power during the 14th and 15th centuries. These buildings represent a period when the city held significant influence across Europe.

The route passes Notre-Dame church, the Fine Arts Museum, and Musée Rude, where visitors encounter artworks and architecture spanning multiple centuries. These spaces reflect how the city values and displays its creative heritage today.

Visitors can obtain printed guides at the Tourist Office or use a mobile application that provides detailed information about each location along the way. The entire route can be comfortably walked in about an hour.

The owl that gives the trail its name was historically a symbol of wisdom in this region and appears on every directional marker. Many walkers make a game of photographing each owl symbol they encounter, turning the walk into a personal discovery journey.
