Dhal Al Misfir, Natural cave system in central Qatar
The Dhal Al Misfir cave extends 40 meters underground, featuring two main geological sections known as the Damman Formation and the Rus Formation.
The cave formation dates back to the Middle Pleistocene period, approximately 325,000 to 500,000 years ago, when marine sediments created the surrounding rock structures.
Scientists and researchers frequently visit this geological site to study the natural processes of cave formation in the Arabian Gulf region.
Access to the cave requires a 4x4 vehicle for desert navigation, appropriate hiking footwear, and warm clothing due to temperature differences inside.
The cave walls contain fibrous gypsum crystals that create a luminescent effect, producing a natural glow throughout the underground chambers.
