Museo de la Cultura Teotihuacana, Archaeological museum in Teotihuacan, Mexico.
The Museum of Teotihuacan Culture holds ceramics, tools, and religious artifacts excavated from the ancient city, spread across eight exhibition sections. Each section focuses on different aspects of life and civilization in this ancient metropolis.
A small museum collection started at this location in 1910, while the current building opened in 1994. The collection expanded to document the growing amount of excavations from different periods of the ancient city.
The displays show how people in Teotihuacan lived and worked, from craftspeople to priests, and explain their religious beliefs through objects and imagery. You can see how different occupations and social levels in this ancient society each developed their own artistic and craft styles.
The museum is easy to reach by public transport from central Teotihuacan and sits just a short distance from the pyramids. It is helpful to plan several hours to explore both locations, especially if you want to read the inscriptions carefully.
One of the exhibition windows provides a direct view of the Pyramid of the Sun while viewing the collections. This view allows visitors to connect the artifacts directly to one of the most important structures of the ancient city.
