Universal Studios Hollywood combines movie production facilities with rides based on franchises like Harry Potter, Jurassic World, and The Simpsons.

The facility opened in 1915 as a film studio offering tours for five cents, later expanding into a complete theme park under MCA ownership in 1964.

The Studio Tour takes visitors through actual film sets, sound stages, and production areas where numerous Hollywood movies have been created.

The park divides into Upper and Lower lots, connected by escalators, with the Metro B Line station providing direct access from downtown Los Angeles.

A devastating fire in 2008 destroyed 40,000 archived digital copies when a worker's blowtorch ignited the backlot during maintenance operations.
