Interactive Museum of Economics

The Interactive Museum of Economics is a museum in Mexico City with approximately fifty exhibits across three floors covering personal finance, social economics, money systems, government, and development topics. The spaces are designed so visitors can directly explore subjects like currency production and corporate structures.

The building was originally a hospital from the 18th century run by the Bethlehemite community. After extensive restoration that began in the 1990s, it was eventually reopened as an economics museum.

The museum shows how people use money and economics in daily life through interactive stations where visitors can simulate markets or observe production in action. These hands-on experiences help explain how economic choices shape our world.

The museum sits on Tacuba Street between Bolivar and Filomeno Mata in the city center. It is open Tuesday through Sunday and offers straightforward access to the different exhibition areas spread across its floors.

The museum houses a notable collection of coins from colonial Latin America, a rare set of items to find together. These coins show how money functioned as a tool of economic control during that historical period.
