Teatro Lírico, Theatre building in Cuauhtémoc, Mexico
The Teatro Lírico building stands at 46 República de Cuba Street in Mexico City, featuring its preserved original facade from the early 20th century.
The theatre opened its doors on August 6, 1907, under the ownership of Rafael Icaza y Landa, who commissioned engineer Manuel Torres Torrija for its construction.
Throughout its history, the Teatro Lírico stage welcomed performances by Mexican entertainment figures including María Conesa, Lupe Vélez, Agustín Lara, and Pedro Infante.
The theatre building maintains a capacity of 1,100 spectators and offers performances with tickets priced at 120 pesos per seat.
In 1941, musician and business owner Manuel Castro Padilla met a tragic end when he was fatally wounded in front of the theatre's entrance.
