Taipa

Taipa is a residential district in Macau located between the Macau Peninsula and Coloane island. The area features two distinctive hills in its central section and is connected to the peninsula by several bridges.

The area originally consisted of two separate islands that merged into a single landmass through natural siltation and deliberate land reclamation over time. This transformation significantly changed Macau's geography.

The Taipa Houses Museum displays five restored colonial homes from the 1920s, where you can see furniture and objects from Portuguese-Macanese families. Walking through these houses gives you a sense of how residents lived during that era.

The area is easy to reach through several bridges from the peninsula, and a light rail system connects the airport and various districts. Most areas are accessible on foot or by public transportation.

The district hosts several schools and the Macau University of Science and Technology campus, making it an important educational center. This academic focus shapes the character of the area.
