West Bay Beach

West Bay Beach is a wide sandy shore along Roatan's northern coast with white sand and palm trees fringing the water's edge. The turquoise waters extend along the beach, offering clear views down to the seafloor below.

The area was once home to Paya and Garifuna communities before developing into a tourist destination as tourism grew in Honduras. This shift transformed local economics and land use over several decades.

Local restaurants along the shore serve fresh seafood using recipes handed down through generations of island families. They reflect the character of the coastal community and invite visitors to taste authentic island flavors.

Water taxis depart from Infinity Bay Dock and provide faster travel between West Bay and West End compared to ground transportation. The trip is short enough that reservations are often not needed, though checking availability during peak times is wise.

The beach provides direct access to the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, with coral formations visible through clear water just offshore. Snorkelers can swim directly to the coral structures from the beach without needing a long boat ride out.
