Poço Azul

Poço Azul is a natural pool complex in the Chapada das Mesas region with clear water reaching depths of 6 meters within limestone formations. Wooden walkways connect various waterfalls and swimming areas throughout the site.

The site became known in the 1990s when local residents discovered its tourism potential while exploring the Chapada das Mesas territory. This discovery led to its development as a destination for visitors.

The nearby Santa Barbara Cave holds religious imagery and remains a spiritual site where local Catholic communities gather and pray.

Entrance fees grant access to multiple swimming areas and natural attractions on the property. It is helpful to bring swimwear and slip-resistant shoes since rocks become wet and slippery.

The distinctive blue color of the water results from mineral deposits and specific light refraction through exceptionally clear water filtered by surrounding rocks. This visual effect changes depending on time of day and sunlight.
