Aurora Sky Station

Aurora Sky Station sits atop Mount Nuolja at approximately 900 meters elevation, featuring an observation platform with wide views across the surrounding plateau. The structure includes heated indoor areas with large windows and an open terrace designed for watching the night sky and landscape.

The station began offering northern lights experiences in the 1960s and established its first organized aurora viewing program in 2000. This development transformed it into an established venue for travelers seeking to observe this natural phenomenon.

The station incorporates Swedish Lapland traditions through its four-course dinner menu, reflecting regional culinary practices in the Arctic environment.

A chairlift connects the station to the base station below, requiring about 30 minutes of travel uphill. Visitors should bring warm clothing or obtain protective gear on site to guard against the extreme cold of the Arctic environment.

The region experiences a localized weather pattern where clear skies persist above the station while surrounding areas become cloudy. This natural advantage gives visitors better chances of seeing the aurora compared to many other locations in the region.
