Rawhide

Rawhide is a Western theme park in the Sonoran Desert south of Phoenix, set across more than 160 acres of open land. Wooden buildings and dusty streets replicate a 1800s town layout, while the site features performance venues like the Six Gun Theatre, a saloon and steakhouse, multiple riding experiences, and interactive activities such as gold panning and shooting galleries.

Rawhide was established to recreate American Old West life and cowboy culture that defined the 1800s. Over time, the park expanded with various attractions and event spaces, evolving into a major venue for Western events and rodeos in the region that celebrates and preserves this chapter of American history.

The name Rawhide connects to the leather culture of the Old West, reflected throughout the site's design and daily activities. Visitors experience working cowboy traditions firsthand, watching and participating in skills like rope tricks and riding, while the steakhouse and saloon serve as gathering places where people connect over classic Western food and entertainment.

Wear comfortable shoes as the grounds are large and require considerable walking, especially in hot weather. Check show schedules upon arrival and plan your route, since attractions are scattered throughout the site; most performances run multiple times daily, so you can return to favorites or explore new areas without missing anything.

The park offers a rare chance to ride camels, animals not commonly found in other parts of the country, creating an unexpected blend of desert landscape and exotic travel experiences. This unusual attraction alongside traditional Western activities makes it a place where cowboy adventure merges with worldwide exploration.
