Ikh Nartiin Chuluu Nature Reserve

The reserve encompasses 66,000 hectares of rocky outcrops surrounded by dry grassland and semi-desert steppe in southeastern Mongolia's rugged terrain.

Since its establishment in 1996, the reserve has protected numerous archaeological sites containing ancient petroglyphs that document early human presence in the region.

Local herders maintain their traditional lifestyle within the reserve, managing livestock while preserving the delicate balance between human activity and wildlife conservation.

Visitors can reach the reserve by road from Ulaanbaatar and stay in traditional ger camps that provide basic amenities and opportunities for wildlife observation.

The reserve hosts 125 bird species and 33 mammal species, including argali sheep, Siberian ibex, and endangered species like the Asiatic wild ass.
