Pantai Rajegwesi

Pantai Rajegwesi is a sand beach with brown coloring caused by river sediments, surrounded by dense tropical forest within Meru Betiri National Park boundaries. The shoreline hosts numerous fishing boats and serves as a working hub for the fishing community.

A powerful earthquake struck in June 1994, triggering a tsunami that caused major damage to settlements nearby. Communities relocated to higher ground on adjacent hills and gradually rebuilt their lives in this new location.

Local fishermen perform seasonal ceremonies at the shoreline to honor the sea and give thanks for their catch. These rituals reflect how deeply connected the community is to fishing traditions and marine life.

Visit early in the morning to see fishing boats at work and experience the daily rhythms of the community at their busiest. Paths along the shoreline are easy to walk, and the nearby forest provides natural shade throughout your stay.

The beach's name comes from iron-rich coral formations that turn red when exposed to saltwater over time. This natural process gives the location its distinctive character and is something many visitors overlook when they arrive.
