The Papuma Beach stretches along the southern coast of East Java with white sand beaches bordered by steep limestone cliffs and scattered rock formations.
The Dutch colonial administration introduced tobacco farming in the Jember region during the 19th century, transforming the area into an agricultural center.
The name Papuma originates from Padang Putih Malikan, reflecting the local language description of the white sand beach and its turning tides.
The beach offers camping facilities, restrooms, and parking areas, with the dry season from May to September providing the most favorable conditions for visits.
The beach contains two distinct sections: one area hosts numerous fishing boats while the other section remains completely free of watercraft.
