Bondowoso Rail and Train Museum

The museum occupies a former railway station building with two platforms and tracks, constructed in Indische Empire and Neoclassical architectural styles.

The station, opened by Staatsspoorwegen in 1897, served the Kalisat-Panarukan railway line until its closure in 2004 before becoming a museum in 2016.

The museum preserves the memory of the 1947 Gerbong Maut incident, where 46 Indonesian prisoners died during a railway transport under Dutch colonial rule.

Located on Imam Bonjol Street in Kademangan district, the museum opens daily from 8 AM to 5 PM with different admission rates for local and foreign visitors.

The facility represents Indonesia's third railway museum, managed jointly by PT Kereta Api Indonesia's Architecture Design Unit and the Bondowoso Regional Government.
