Luhur Poten Temple Of Mount Bromo, Hindu temple at Mount Bromo, Indonesia

Luhur Poten Temple sits on a sand plain near Mount Bromo and features traditional stone structures arranged in a mandala-inspired pattern. The compound includes several smaller shrines and pavilions organized around a central courtyard, all framed by volcanic terrain.

Pura Luhur Poten was built in 2000 by the Tengger Hindu community through gotong royong, after their Hindu Dharma reform. It stands on land called Poten, which for centuries had been used by Tengger Buda followers to celebrate Labuh Kasada. The site was known as Sanggar Agung Poten, and the temple's anniversary is observed on the 14th day of the Kasada month in the Tengger Saka calendar.

This temple serves as the spiritual heart of the Tenggerese community, who have maintained their Hindu traditions in this volcanic region for centuries. Visitors can observe the daily rituals of local worshippers as they light incense and leave offerings at the shrines.

The temple stands on the sand plain inside the Bromo caldera, in Ngadisari village, Sukapura district, Probolinggo regency, at about 2,200 metres. It is reached from Cemoro Lawang by guided jeep or on foot across the volcanic terrain. The anniversary falls on the 14th day of the Kasada month of the Tengger Saka calendar, before Labuh Kasada.

The temple stands on a flat expanse of volcanic sand called Poten, a name the Tengger derive from empot-empoting ati, meaning "the deepest heart". For centuries before the temple was built, this same ground hosted the Labuh Kasada rites of the Buda Tengger. Its anniversary falls on the 14th day of the Kasada month, the day before Kasada.
