Teluk ijo, Sand beach in Pesanggaran, Indonesia.
Teluk Ijo is a sand beach in Pesanggaran village that curves gently along a bay bordered by dark metamorphic rocks on both sides. The white sand shore is sheltered by these natural rock formations that frame the water.
The area has long supported fishing communities who maintained their traditional practices in these waters. Coastal settlements developed here because the bay provided good conditions for fishing activities.
Local fishermen continue their daily routines at dawn, launching wooden boats from the beach while sharing navigation knowledge with younger generations.
The beach is roughly 90 kilometers from Banyuwangi and requires a drive to Pesanggaran village. From there, a forest path leads to the sand, so wear sturdy shoes and allow time for the walk.
A waterfall cascades directly onto the sand at the eastern end of the beach, providing a natural fresh water source. This feature makes the location unusual for visitors since fresh water is rare at coastal sites.
